A Taste for Life 2009

Thank you to all our loyal A Taste For Life supporters for dining out on April 29!

The final tally has yet to be done, but preliminary results show an increase in personal donations - above the cost of a meal - made to the AIDS Committee of London. Thank you to the estimated 2400 diners in London and beyond for your tremendous generosity!

Your support of A Taste For Life allows us to continue to provide essential programs and services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS here in the many communities we serve, including the counties of Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth and Lambton.

Please visit www.atasteforlife.org for the complete listing of restaurants that participated in 2009. Without their enthusiastic support there could be no A Taste For Life! Thanks to the restaurant community for working with us for this important cause.

A Taste For Life also enjoys the strong support of the following:
TD Bank Financial Group
The London Free Press
Astral Media
Atv
London Downtown Business Association
Pin Point Publications
The Cooperators

We gratefully acknowledge your support and thank you on behalf of all those who benefit from the services of the AIDS Committee of London.

Tachycardia 2009

Thank you Tachycardia!

Tachycardia (or “Tachy” for short) is a 54-year tradition at the University of Western Ontario. It is an annual theatrical production that lets Western medical students give back to London and the medical communities.

The AIDS Committee of London (ACOL) is honoured to have been selected for the fourth year in a row as the charitable recipient of the proceeds from this wonderful community event! Thanks to U.W.O. medical students, staff and community members, Tachycardia has raised another $15,000 for ACOL in 2009, bringing the total of monies donated to us to $45,000!

The AIDS Committee of London would like to thank the organizers of Tachycardia for their generous donation. Your ongoing support allows us to continue our great work, fulfilling our mission to provide leadership in education, support and advocacy to meet the challenge of HIV/AIDS in London and six surrounding counties – Perth, Huron, Lambton, Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford.

People living with HIV are invited to participate in an online survey on HIV and employment in Canada. The purpose of this survey is to learn more about the employment-related needs of people living with HIV. The results will be used to provide employment support, information and advocacy opportunities for people living with HIV across the country, whether in or out of the workforce.

Please visit www.hivandrehab.ca The survey takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. If you would like to request a hardcopy of the survey please send your contact information to mkavazanjian@hivandrehab.ca

Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS

The Living & Serving II report provides findings from a follow-up study to Charles Roy’s (1996) report, Living & Serving: Persons with HIV in the AIDS Movement in Canada, which examined the involvement of people living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs) in community AIDS organizations across Canada.

This recently published document, and the principles behind it, are an important guiding force in the work of the AIDS Committee of London. Read the report here.
